   The history of sheet metal.

Sheet metal is an indispensable part of our modern economic development and daily life. Originating during the Renaissance and widely used during the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries, sheet metal has an interesting history of change and innovation. Let's take a quick look at the history of sheet metal. The history of sheet metal development can be summarized into several important eras, which are described below.

1. From the Renaissance to the Industrial Revolution

The Renaissance was a time of great development and creativity. Masters of art and science began experimenting with new methods and sharing their results with their peers. By the Renaissance, metalworking had been going on for thousands of years. When Leonardo da Vinci drew his first sketch of a rolling mill, the traditional technique hadn't changed much. This sketch was not put into use until around 1590, when the first rolling mill was created using two heavy cylinders. The machine presses the metal to the desired thickness without much labor.

2. Sheet metal and the Industrial Revolution

Nearly two centuries after the first rolling mill, Jean Pierre Droz perfected the process of making sheet metal in 1770. Jean Pierre Droz is a coin and metal engraver who works to improve the quality of French coinage. With the advent of the Industrial Revolution, the demand for sheet metal increased. Henry Bessemer is credited with devising an affordable way to mass-produce steel. His process involves blowing air through the pig iron to remove impurities. By 1851 sheet metal production was underway on a large scale in the United States and Europe. A metal plate 6 meters long and 11 millimeters thick was on display during the Great British Expedition. This would signal the potential of sheet metal as a major building material.

3. Sheet metal today

Sheet metal production technology is becoming more and more, machinery and equipment constantly updated. Sheet metal has been widely used in today's society. It has many uses, covering all aspects of social life. Sheet metal is used to make a range of products, such as automobiles, aircraft, electronic parts, medical equipment, mining tools and building materials. Sheet metal will continue to be an essential material as manufacturing advances and new infrastructure is required.
